We thought McKinley was old enough this year to really enjoy the Williamson County Fair, so we decided to go Saturday afternoon. I was not looking forward to being outside in the un-be-liev-ably HOT weather. But it was actually not bad, it turned cloudy and was a bit breezy.
We rode a school bus from the fields they were parking folks at, over to the fair, was actually nice not to have to walk that huge parking lot. It was the cutest thing watching McKinley stand up and look out the windows. But those seats were so small, I remember them fitting three people just fine when I was growing up! Me, Chris, McKinley, and the stroller & two bags!?!? Glad the trip was short.
We got to see the biggest cows I’d ever laid eyes on – McKinley however did not find them amusing, she felt much safer in her stroller. When I pulled her out to get a picture and let her see up close, she got frantic. See the worried look (not to mention the inherited trait from her father, the biting of “toenails” she calls ‘em).

Then we went to see the piggy races. What fun that was. And we saw baby goats & ducks race too.

I think everyone’s favorite was watching the dog-jumping contest or as McKinley says, “dogs jump in the swimmin’ pool.”
We only stayed a couple hours. We unfortunately did not take the time to visit the petting zoo, but we did not want to gamble our time and perhaps run into a meltdown either. Before we left we of course had to take part in the ridiculously overpriced fair-food that’s not even that good really. But ooooh, that “Granny’s sweet tea” was worth every penny!
Fun memories – and perhaps the start of a very hot annual family tradition…
