McKinley is just the right age this year to really get into some fun stuff. I want to instill some fun & sweet traditions with our children that they’ll remember as they are older. We’ve had a few hits and some misses this year. What are some you do?

GET INTO JAMMIES AND RIDE AROUND LOOKING AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS (a hit) – we did this two or three times this year, was so fun. We found some great lights that even Chris and I got giddy looking at. Somehow though “we always get ourselves in these situations” — it’s raining, we’re taking turns walking through some awesome lights with McKinley while the other waits in the car with Jacky – then he wakes and MUST EAT NOW! There we sit — in the rain — two year old is ready for MORE NOW — Daddy needs to PEE NOW — and yet we wait…

SNUGGLE WITH DADDY WHILE WATCHING “CHARLIE BROWN’S CHRISTMAS” & SHARING SOME EGG NOG (this was part hit-part miss – the egg nog disappeared quickly however this kid tradition we had from our childhood didn’t keep her attention as was too old for her plus, watching it as a parent I was pretty disappointed with how sour Lucy’s attitude is & how many times I heard the word “stupid.”)

BAKE GOODIES WITH MOMMA (hit!) I love to be in the kitchen! I know by heart how to make chocolate oatmeal cookies because I made so many with my Mom growing up. For Christmas we’d always make a yummy cheeseball, sausage balls, & fudge too. This year for Thanksgiving McKinley and I made a cake together. She was such a fun help – dumping & stirring. And of course our favorite part is licking the batter!

She was not, however, a fan of the mixer…she hugged up on me tight which I didn’t mind at all of course.

Those are just some of the “holiday things” we did this year – too bad we were all sick at the New Year, didn’t get to celebrate much or try something new.
